Gary is Managing Director of Marketing and Branding for SB360 Capital Partners. He is responsible for the advertising and marketing programs of SB360 and oversees deal-specific marketing initiatives. Gary also takes a lead role in the operation and winddown of e-commerce businesses for client disposition projects.
Gary began his retail career by accident. While attending Ball State University he took a part-time job in the men’s clothing and sportswear department of a local Indiana department store. Within months it became a full-time position, first as a department manager, then as an assistant menswear buyer for the same local Indiana department store.
After graduating from Ball State, Gary managed two small specialty stores before returning to a department store environment. Over the next few years, he held various management positions as well as senior buying and merchandising positions with department and specialty store retailers including L.S. Ayres & Co., Meis Brothers, Gidding-Jenny, and Byck’s.
Gary joined one of the predecessor companies, SB Capital Group, as a field supervisor in 1988. Throughout the 90’s and early 00’s, Gary served in lead and support roles for some of the largest retail liquidations at that time – Merry-Go-Round Enterprises, Circuit City, Gottschalks, Mervyns, Heilig-Meyers Furniture, Whitehall Jewelers, and Eaton’s Canada. He also helped guide a variety of special projects for luxury retailers Saks Fifth Avenue, Henri Bendel, Steuben, and Judith Leiber.
In 2000 Gary moved to the New York office. While retaining some operational responsibilities, he began to assume more of the advertising and marketing functions, becoming a Senior Vice President of SB Capital Group in 2006.
Gary is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
